Makes you Think

While recounting an awkward date story (this one to be exact) with a guy the other night, I brought up the end of date weirdness. How even though I didn't enjoy my date with Topher, that when he asked me if we could go out again I said sure. And had then just planned on trying to get out of it, or make it short.

The friend I was recounting the story with was really taken aback that I wasn't honest with Topher. My friend said that he HATES it when girls do that. He said he feels led on.

I tried to justify saying that I didn't want to hurt the guy's feelings. That I don't want to be mean. This friend told me that it would be nicer to just be honest.

-This conversation happened a few weeks ago and I have now thought about this conversation a lot. Maybe the only feelings I am protecting are my own...?

I even had a conversation with a coworker the other day about this. How I feel like I need act a certain way since they are the ones paying to take me out. She shot that down and said that we have no responsibility when they take us out. We don't HAVE TO hug them goodnight. We don't HAVE TO stay out all night with them. (remember how I hate marathon dates but have never asked a guy to take me home early) We don't HAVE TO consent to a second date.

Apparently I need to practice how to be more like this friend.

conversation about a guy friend

friend #1"he's like family"
friend #2 "Well, that's ok!"
friend #3 "No... that's incest."

hug and a kiss

After getting used to hugging one size of guy it throws me off to hug someone else... Especially when I thought it was just going to be a casual hug, not a full frontal "hold me for a second" hug.
So he zigged when I zagged and if he had been shorter we would have kissed.
Instead, my lips ended up right on his neck.
Yep.

I then apologized, and we chuckled.
Sometimes, I can't help it, I am awkward, and helpless. Oh well!

Something to Consider

It has been done by every teenager at some point: the pairing of your name and his last. Sometimes all over your notebooks, like shown in many a teen pop movie.
We do it just to see how it would look, and feel, and sound.

And as dumb as this may be, I am going to declare that it is a necessity! I once dated a boy whose last name rhymed with my first. Like almost a joke at how similar they were.

Not that it was really a deal breaker... but it is just something to consider. It will be your name for the rest of your life.

...

He pulled out the slow down card.

slow usually comes before stop....

but I'm hoping this is different.

but hope doesn't stop the tears.
